Men's Leadership Forum - Washington, D.C.

In response to Pope John Paul’s call to re-Christianize society, a dozen laymen came together five years ago to establish the Men’s Leadership Forum.  Drawn from diverse professional backgrounds, we assembled to address what Vatican II identified as “one of the gravest errors of our time...the dichotomy between the faith many profess and the practice of their daily lives....” (Gaudium et Spes, No. 43).  Few could argue today that there is a profound need for Christian leaders to be inspired by Christian ideals and to apply those ideals in their public lives. When it comes to our responsibility to help those around us - at work, at home and in civic life - nothing could be of greater importance.

For the past five academic years the Men's Leadership Forum has asked four prominent public figures to speak about the challenges of living their Catholic faith in public life and in their professional work.  The series has been a resounding success and has featured, among others, United States Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, United States Senators Rick Santorum and Sam Brownback, economist and television host Lawrence Kudlow, author George Weigel, columnist Robert Novak, scholar Robby George, former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, Chief Presidential Speech Writer Bill McGurn and former Tyco Chief Counsel, attorney Mark Belnick. Many of our speakers have been willing to share personally of themselves and their faith and how that faith has sustained them through a particularly difficult time in their lives.

Sessions for this academic year will again be held at the Army Navy Club in Washington, DC, located at 901 17th Street NW (Farragut Square).  Doors open at 6:45 a.m. with a buffet breakfast served at 7:00 a.m.  Our program begins at 8  a.m. and ends promptly at 9 a.m.  Each talk lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes with the balance of time used for answering questions.
